Not Your Grandpa's Cannabis
LINALOOL
Linalool is found in flowers and spices like lavender and coriander. It carries a soft, floral aroma and is one of the terpenes most often associated with mellow, gentle varietals.
CARYOPHYLLENE
Caryophyllene is a spicy, peppery terpene found in many edible plants, including cloves, cinnamon, and black pepper. It gives certain varietals a warm, aromatic bite.
MYRCENE
Myrcene is the most commonly found terpene in cannabis and can compose up to 50 percent of the plant's terpenes. It is also found in mangoes, hops, lemongrass, and basil, and lends an earthy, musky aroma.
HUMULENE
Humulene carries a subtle earthy, woody aroma with spicy herbal notes. It is also found in hops, coriander, cloves, and basil — it is a big part of what gives beer its familiar 'hoppy' character.
TERPINOLENE
Terpinolene is characterized by a fresh, piney, floral aroma and flavour recognizable in nutmeg and cumin. It usually appears in small amounts, adding brightness to a varietal's overall profile.
PINENE
Pinene is the most common terpene in the world, and can be found in pine needles, basil, and parsley. Pinene-dominant varieties will smell like a forest of pine trees.
LIMONENE
Like its name suggests, limonene has a citrusy bouquet, and it is the second most common terpene found in cannabis. It brings the bright lemon and orange notes you notice in many varietals.
